Do you like to win free stuff? I do!

Okay, so I have to admit that part of the reason I started a blog is because I've been finding so many that I LOVE, and I couldn't not join in. I'm pretty boring right now, but I'm learning, and I hope you'll follow along with me as I learn and share. I'll post some buttons for the ones I love so far just as soon as I figure it out, but for right now, check out this one.

I found it tonight when a fellow sewing Mama blogged about it. It looks like a totally awesome, super helpful blog with videos! Who doesn't love videos? What's more, they're giving away Janomes! Not just to anybody, you have to win them. BUT, there's 2 of them to be won, and it is SO EASY to enter. You can't NOT do it. So go check them out. Do it. You know you want to, and I want you to too.

Here's a link for you lovelies, http://www.thediydish.com/ , and like I said, as soon as I can figure it out, I'll make a button too. It's called DIY Design, and I'm pretty sure it'll be one of my favourites. Happy viewing, and good luck if you enter the contest. :)

I jumped on the bandwagon!

Hi everybody!

First things first, welcome to Made By Milee. I'm Miranda, aka Milee, and I have to warn you that I am completely -brand new- to blogging.

A little about me: I'm a stay at home Mom to 1 daughter, my beautiful Margot, who will be 3 this month; and new (8 months now) wife to Josh, the most wonderful man in the world. We're hoping to add to our little family soon. We live in Alberta, Canada, and have a sometimes too-crazy life. Doesn't everybody, though?

I started this blog so that I can share a little bit of my life and my loves with you. Loves meaning mainly sewing and a little extra crafty stuff, and I may throw in a little bit of my personal life too. :)
I started sewing about a year ago, and so far, I'm completely self taught, so it's a slow-going process. A wonderful mama on a local forum gave me her old sewing machine for free, and after I finally got around to having it serviced and the backstitch fixed, there was no turning back. I started with the intention of making my daughter curtains. Well, that fabric is still in my growing stash. I hemmed a pair of curtains, made some little ones out of a table cloth, and started attempting to make my daughter a couple of dresses and shorts. The fit worked.. the look didn't. You won't get any pictures of those.

In the last 5 or 6 months, I've started trying out different patterns (and learning the magic of USING a pattern), and since becoming a member of www.sewingmamas.com, have found many new favourite designers of fabric and patterns, and the best sellers of some. I like having the option of buying from another sewing mama though, so a lot of my current stash has come from many of the SM's ladies.

I'm breaking out of my shell, and have come to love sewing. We're in the process of moving right now, and I haven't sewn anything since boxing week except for one little peasant shirt, and I can't wait to get everything out of boxes, and all over my new craft room. I could say it'll be lovely and organized, and it will, but let's be realistic here. It's a craft room. Mess happens.

I think that's all for now. I'll post a couple of pictures of my favourite things in the next couple of days, and after that, it'll be as I go. I didn't start taking pictures until recently, so there's only some, but from here on out, you'll probably see pictures of everything I remember to photograph.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll be back.
